A "Trash to Treasure Tuesday" Table Transformation

Diane at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words is hosting "Trash to Treasure Tuesdays," which is a great idea. Be sure to visit Diane to see her clever transformations of trash to treasure.

I shared a yard sale bargain story in a post back in August, and would like to repeat it for this Trash to Treasure Tuesday.

I spotted this cute little table at a yard sale and, although it was kind of banged up and its paint was peeling, I loved it.

I asked the lady the price and was delighted when she said, "$2.00?" -- with a question mark at the end like that might be too much! I hurriedly paid her for it and ran to my car with it before she could change her mind.

After I got it home and looked at it more closely, I decided that the paint was too "chippy" for the "distressed" look I wanted, so I decided to paint it a cream color and distress it myself. That called for sanding some of the paint off and I and my "little helper," Avery, went right to work ...

Isn't she adorable? ... lol

Well, to make a long story a little shorter, I sprayed the table a cream color, but didn't like the way it looked ... so I abandoned the project for a couple of weeks.

Not long after that, I was in Wal-Mart and bought a can of flat black spray paint and figured if I didn't like the table painted black, I could just use it in the garage or somewhere. I sprayed it black and decided I really liked the way it turned out.

Here it is in my bathroom beside the shower,
where I had planned to put it all along ...

I just love it when a plan comes together, don't you!

Thank you, Diane, for hosting "Trash to Treasure Tuesdays" ... I look forward to seeing everyone's "new treasures."

Sincerely,

Janie, I love that piece painted black. There was a time when I would have died if a piece of furniture was painted black. Now, I have black furniture as accents and I am loving it. We do change in the way we decorate over the years. Your table is a a real trash to treasure and looks perfect in your bathroom. A lovely bathroom too.

Hugs...Jeanne

I will have to post a picture of my daughter ( now 13). She looked so much like your precious grandaughter at that age. I had the same pixie cut when I was young and I passed it on to my Caroline. She wore her hair that way for so long that my friends started requesting the "Caroline Cut" for their daughters. Avery is a cutie and I love the table too!

The table looks great black, especially in such a bright space. I've been trying to add a little black to each of my rooms lately, and have enjoyed the way it sets things off and grounds a room.

Please stop by my blog and pick up a free copy of my new cookbook, "Finish The Feast: Leftover Turkey They'll Love To Eat!" It's filled with yummy recipes and is suitable for printing and giving as a gift.

Hugs,
