Christmas Lagniappe

David Phelps is best known for singing tenor in the Gaither's Vocal Band.  I hope you will take time out from your busy day to listen to this video presentation featuring David performing "O Holy Night."

David Phelps - O Holy Night [Live]

David truly has a God-given voice, and I think his awe-inspiring rendition of "O Holy Night" will be one of your most uplifting experiences during this Christmas season. I've shared it with my family, and I'm sure I will watch it over and over again during the holidays, as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Oh, My. I'm breathless---Chris and I joined in when everyone stood up and he started the second chorus. Couldn't you just fall down from the glory of that?

I'm always reminded of Chris' Dad, who played "harp" and guitar and dobro in several gospel groups down on the coast. We gave him a Gaither CD or two every Christmas, or whenever a new one came out. There's just an aura and spirit in a room with a gospel group who sing praise together that will rise you right out of your shoes. It seems that they would live a whole colorful, smiling, singing life, even at home.

And Granddaddy pretty much did---he always had a harp in his pocket, and we'd just burst out into "I'll Fly Away," or another good old hymn. That's the thing I remember most about the moment he passed---Tawa's wavery little voice started "Some Glad Morning . . ." and the whole crowd of us around his bed joined in.

All this uplift---I've watched the Audra McDonald song several times, as well---will take me flying through this day, I think.

love to you and all yours,
