Lavender Lanterns

Wisteria along the Natchez Trace ...

Its almost invisible vines gracefully draped from tree to tree, branch to branch ...
its lovely clusters of blossoms suspended like delicate lavender lanterns, welcoming Spring.

Fantastic -- Never really looked at the flowers like you do -- Keep up the great work!

Oh, Janie!! This is just what I needed this easing-into-Monday time of lingering COLD outside. We've been promised SPRING, had it dangled invitingly thorugh February and early March, with great swaths of yellowbell hedges glowing up and down the streets, and even the billows of tulip trees arrayed like it's MAY. I hope these low temps do not discourage or stunt the buddings and blowings, for we NEED SPRING.

And Wisteria---how I love it! I can just smell the whole countryside, feel the heat from the ground and the sky and all that lush GREENTH, and almost FEEL the bee-buzz as they go about their Springly duties. You have such a talent for saving moments which would have simply whispered away, and almost always when I look at your floral landscapes and trees and all the vines of colour swaying in the breeze, I think of the line, "Full many a flower is born to blush unseen, and waste its sweetness on the desert air."

THANK you from my heart for saving so many of those ethereal moments of grace, so that we can see and savor them. So many lost opportunities, so much beautiful to be preserved, and you are a supreme artist and curator.

much love from the chilly Heartland,

PS: I've had a little piece written somewhere for years, of that great sweep of "wisteria clothesline" from several years ago, and cannot seem to find the photos. Do you know the one? I'd love some shots of that lovely long line of lavender laundry across the meadow, if you can refer me to the link.

So lovely - thank you for sharing! My daughter-in-law (also with Mississippi roots) planted wisteria over their fence and it is in full Texas bloom now, too. Love it's gentle smell!
