I love photographing architectural columns, and have accumulated quite a collection of pictures taken during my ramblings. When I was gathering some of my favorites to feature in this post, I was surprised by the variety of styles that caught my attention through the years, ranging from very primitive to stately and ornate.
I guess if I had to choose my favorite columns, it would have to be Windsor Ruins at Port Gibson, Mississippi (you can click on the link to read the story of Windsor).
Can you imagine how glorious those were when Windsor was completed in 1861!
My next favorite are the columns of the Old Court House Museum in Vicksburg.
Vicksburg is a photographer's treasure trove when it comes to historical architecture, and here are just a few of the columns I've captured during my photo shoots here at home.

There are many more columns gracing historical buildings and houses in Vicksburg that I want to capture with my camera, but they will have to wait until Spring, or perhaps this summer when the Crape Myrtles and Magnolias are blooming.
