Blue Skies and Butterflies ...

After a dreary, rainy, and windy week, compliments of Gustav, it made my heart sing to see sunshine and patches of blue skies yesterday.

And as the sun came out, so did the butterflies, swarming around my lantana plants in our back and side yards.

I literally stood in the middle of them while they flittered and fluttered (don't you just love the sound of those words?) around me as I took pictures.

Here are a few I captured up close and personal. If you've never seen a butterfly up close, click on the pictures to enlarge them ... they're amazing little creatures.

This little bumble bee must have been in "Bumble Bee Heaven," because he wasn't bothered by my getting close to take a picture of him sharing his flowers with a butterfly ...

And here's a baby butterfly who didn't cooperate with me. He just wouldn't "light" long enough for me to get a good picture, but I thought he was cute. I've never seen a baby one before ...

I wish our friends in South Mississippi and South Louisiana sunny skies to welcome them back home, and hope they find all is well.

Sincerely,

Beautiful photos, Janie!

I'm seeing the sun, for the first time since Tuesday, as I type. Gustav sent several days of rain and cooled the temps.

Janie,
Your pictures are beautiful. The Lantana is some of the prettiest I've seen! I need to add that to my garden next year. I had some at my former house, but we haven't planted any here.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Beautiful butterfly pictures, Janie! I love butterflies. We visited the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver and it was wonderful...they would land in your hair if you sat quietly.

Hi Janie, Love your butterfly pictures. I also read your post on vacationing in the north Georgia mountains. We use to live in Kennesaw, GA and travel to Blue Ridge and Helen. Helen is such a neat little village. That is one part of not living in GA that we miss lots.
