It doesn't seem possible that it's that time of year again when there is just a hint of fall in the air. Perhaps it's just my imagination, or wishful thinking, but the sky seems bluer, the air clearer, the pre-dawn stars look like you could reach out and touch them, and the days seem less muggy. Summer flowers are fading, and even the butterflies' wings seem to be less colorful. Wishful thinking, or not ... this past weekend my thoughts turned to fall decorating, and I made several trips to the attic with my summer flower arrangements, accessories, and greenery, replacing them with fall accessories, vines, berries, and stained gourds (if you would like to read my post from last fall about how to stain gourds, you can click here. Here are the results of my decorating projects, so far, beginning with our front doors (you can click on the pictures to enlarge them, if you'd like) ... This is a view of the living room taken from inside the front doors ... The Welsh Dresser in our breakfast room ... I acquired the collection of old crocks from my mother-in-law's estate, and I love the way they look with the gourds and fall colors. The old hand painted tole tray was a flea market find ... I couldn't have done without my "little decorating assistant," Avery Grace. She loves making "arrangements" for me and I think she did a great job. As she put the sunflowers in the copper pitcher, she said, "What bright beautiful colors!" I foresee many happy hours ahead of us decorating and "piddling" together. Our next project will be a wreath for the porch door. Until then ... happy Fall decorating, Y'all! |

Everything looks so pretty. I always just love to look at pictures of your home. It is so timeless and beautiful!
Not quite time to decorate for Fall here. After being in the 80s last week, it is 96 and 97 this week. But my flower beds are definitely showing signs of the season ending. I have also noticed the sumac out in the woods beginning to turn red.
Your home is so beautiful! You have really put a fall face on your lovley home! I've enjoyed the tour.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love your mantle grouping. Thanks for the lovely tour...gets me in the mood to start decorating, especially since the weather has been cooler here in Iowa.
Tell your little flower assistant she is FABULOUS!
Yes I feel the air even here in Mississippi. Im having to stay in handcuffs not to get my things out.
Beautiful! I love how you decorated your hutch for Fall! Tell Avery Grace she gave me lots of great ideas!
What a lovely breath of Autumn, when you are so much warmer in weather than we have been!!
I'm longing for Fall, as well; I feel it through the open doors and windows, see it in the crispening grapeleaves and the shadow-heads left on the daisies.
I'm still sorta a season behind---I've gotta get this LILAC tableclotch off before time to put on the leaves-and-pumpkins ones.
Thanks for the gentle reminder and the lovely pictures!!
I'm going to bookmark this to look at again for inspiration. Everything is perfect.
Love every room and that baby girl is precious.
Janie, The warmth of your personality is exuded in all of your decorating. Your home is lovely and inviting and the addition of the autumn touches is just lovely. What fun to have some help from your little Avery Grace. Memories are being made...
:-) Sue

Janie, I love the fall look and my favorite is the mantel. OMG Avery has grown. Sorry I have not been by sooner, I keep thinking things will calm down and they don't.
Roy is due home today, so I try not to blog a lot for the next 7 days.
