Waiting for the Roses

I love taking pictures of roses, and can't wait until they start blooming again.  In the meantime, I'd like to share some pictures I captured during a visit to the Vicksburg Rose Garden last Spring ... on April 29th, to be exact.  Hopefully, I won't have long to wait to capture this year's buds and blooms.

I'm so glad I was early enough to capture the dew drops on the petals. The dew was very heavy that morning.
I love the little buds tucked underneath this one ...

  Red, Red Rose

As a flower in the garden
Bending toward the sun,
Unfolds it's tiny petals
One, by one, by one,
So faith expands its beauty
Until at last it grows,
Into life's lasting flower ...
The heart's fair perfect rose.

May your days be filled with anticipation
of the promises of Spring and new roses ...
wherever you are.

Good Morning Janie,

What a pleasure to visit Southern Lagniappe and find such beautiful rose photos. I am reminded of Gertrude Stein's Poem ... A rose is a rose is a rose. And, how beautiful they are!

Always look forward to your next beautiful post.

Blessings,

One of my favorite flowers to admire, smell and photograph, as always yours are so beautifully photographed. I too am looking forward to my first rose. Thank you for the blessing.
Enjoy your day.

Dew on Roses! What an early-morning treasure, so fleeting and so fine. Your lens and the shimmer and the colors and contours---an ensemble of timeless perfection.

And you know, I did not think of the word "meniscus" even once til I started writing this---doesn't that sound like some medieval king's accoutrement, with scepter and orb? Ever since a physics professor explained surface tension, etc., it seems to come to mind at photographs of dewdrops, a little miracle in itself---all those water molecules hanging onto each other like (mundane comparison) those barrel-of-monkeys game pieces.

Can you tell I'm delirious with the sun and the Progress?!! The yard people are here, and the tree guys, all setting up a wonderful hum of activity out in that desolately-cluttered yard, with the downed limbs from weeks ago and the flyaway flutters of debris. I LOVE progress of that sort.

I do wander. Happy April and boundless roses to you, my dear friend,
