Sunshine on a Winter Day

I saw some Narcissus blossoms this morning. I so wanted to stop and take a picture, but they were in the middle of a boulevard on a busy street, and stopping was not an option.

One of my favorite flowers, Narcissus blooms always brighten my winter days and make me smile.

Even though the winter landscapes are bleak, seeing the first Narcissus blooms of the season rekindles a sense of renewal and hope for the new year, much like Dogwoods do in the Spring.

I love the way the centers of the flowers in the next picture look as if they're "letting their little light shine."

I wish you an abundance of bright and beautiful lagniappe, like these lovely little flowers that remind us of God's glory and presence in our lives, even on the bleakest days of winter.

What a glorious promise that Spring will be here soon.

God's Winter Glory

Narcissus is blooming here in Missisisippi!

One of my favorite flowers, Narcissus blooms always brighten my winter days when I see clusters of them scattered amongst flower beds or, even better, at old home sites along country roads. I can't help but wonder who planted them, and wish I could let them know that the flowers they so lovingly planted make me smile when I see them.

I have always loved this time of year following the holidays (after all the Christmas decorations are packed away and taken to the attic), and even though the winter landscapes are bleak, seeing the first Narcissus blooms of the season rekindles a sense of renewal and hope for the new year, much like the Dogwoods do in the Spring.

I love the way the centers of the flowers in the next picture look as if they're glowing. They remind me of the song, "This Little Light of Mine" ...

Best wishes to you for a New Year blessed with an abundance of bright and beautiful lagniappe, like these lovely little flowers that remind us of God's glory and presence in our lives, even on the bleakest days of winter.

Sunday Lagniappe

My husband and I picked up our granddaughter Avery Grace yesterday, and drove out to our land to see if we had any Purple Martins in our martin house (not yet), and these are just a few of the pictures I took while we were there.

It didn't take Avery long to pick a bouquet of Jonquils to take to her mommy.

And next to picking flowers, one of life's
simple pleasures is throwing rocks in the lake!

And one of Avery's Grandmama's simple pleasures is exploring with my camera, and out of the thousands of jonquils we have on our land, I found two little clumps of Narcissus ...

These exquisite little wildflowers (violets?) were everywhere ...

It was a beautiful day and we loved spending part of it with Avery. She's growing up so fast (she'll be SIX in May), and we treasure sweet moments like these with her.
