I don't like winter weather and the cold dreary days that accompany it ...
In central Mississippi, picturesque snowfalls (such as the one below which occurred in 2000) are few and far between ...
Mind you, I'm not complaining, though. I can't imagine living somewhere like this ...
But, winter weather aside ... I actually enjoy the month of January. There's just something about starting a new year with a "clean slate" and a brand new EMPTY calendar that makes me want to organize and "de-clutter" everything from my computer files and pictures to my closets, cabinets, and drawers.
I don't dare start with my computer files and pictures, because I know I would get so bogged down "playing," and before I knew it, February would be here and I would be out of my "organizing and de-cluttering mode."
That said, I plan to start in the attic with my silk flowers and vines which are, as I write this, scattered helter-skelter all over the attic, as a result of my impatience when I was trying to find my fall arrangements back in September.
A couple of days ago, I went to Home Depot and bought four large plastic bins with lids in which to store them according to the seasons.
Next, I plan to tackle my closet, and then maybe the bathroom cabinets and drawers. By the time I finish all that (or, more than likely, get bored with it), I will be in my "Decorating Mode." That will call for another trip to the attic to find my "January Stuff," which should not be a problem since it will all be stored neatly in the "Winter" bin and marked accordingly ... right?
I hope to keep you posted on my progress, but if you don't hear from me for a while, it's probably because I'm still sorting through all those silk flowers, vines, and berries trying to decide if they're Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall!

You sound like the organized person I long to be! Maybe next week after Connor is back in school....if I don't start with the computer! LOL
Have a great day,
Diane
I love January for the same reasons! My first job is to sort out my desk, which I really don't use. It is mainly storage for 'whatever'! It needs lots of attention. Sally
Since I love organizing anything I sure wish I had an attic! As it is keeping things organized in just a few closets is challenging at best. :) But I've worked on it this week....been through the drawers in my bedroom, the shelf and floors of both my bedroom closets, and the shelves in my sewing room. Oh, and my linen closet and my one storage closet in the hall. I've "Freecycled" several things and given others to my children. Not bad! blessings, marlene
I posted the centerpieces of the month~ I wondered if your jars of candy lasted through the season??
Come visit!
I'm with you... I like the new year, fresh start...and often find myself cleaning out areas!
Girl, I am glad you're organized! I'm hopeless! LOL! But you know, you just might inspire me to try!
XO,
Sheila :-)
I really like your new background:)
We have just finished digging out of picture number two of your snow scenes as we received between 16-21 inches of snow just on Christmas Day:) Then it kept on snowing!!! Our snow blower didn't work, but my husband sure did...
We did get our white Christmas and then some. The kids sure had fun.
Good luck on all the organizing. It will be something I will be attempting to do also.
I just wished it would stay that way...
Enjoy a wonderful new year!
I could benefit from your organization skills! I got conked in the head - literally! - by falling debris in my closet this week. It's time to box up and move on (I'm notorius for holding on to paperwork, of all things. From jobs I had like a decade ago!). Plus, as I just said to someone else, spring yard sale season will be here before you know it and I need to make room. :-)
Happy New Year! Thanks for bringing "a little something extra" to my world this year. ;-)
Oh good for you !!! I operate better when I am orgainized.
Well too bad for me I hate SNOW , but live in the NE, go figure !!
Happy New Year Janie,
Kathy :)
Janie,
Your post is a reminder to me of one of my resolutions for the New Year to get my home office truly organized. I am overwhelmed with old papers and files that need shredding. (Actually I need to load my truck up and take it out to my place in the country and have a huge bonfire!)
Hope y'all have a very Happy New Year and all the best in 2009! (I say to 2008...good riddance...as it has been a horrible year in so many ways.)

Love your post! So inspiring. My fresh start will be in my sewing room. I need organization in order to function. I hope to tackle this room this weekend as the closet holds most of my seasonal decorations. I need to cross this off my list of "things to do" in order to allow myself to do some of the fun things I have planned in this room.
Happy New Years!
Good luck on YOUR big project
Kymber
