Scenes from the Mississippi Delta

Yesterday I shared some pictures I took of sunflowers in the Mississippi Delta (scroll down or click on the link, if you'd like to read that post).

Today I'd like to share a few more pictures I captured while up in the Delta, near Rolling Fork, Mississippi. They are of random scenes and landscapes that caught my eye.

One of my favorite scenes is this gorgeous plantation home near Anguilla, Mississippi, which is called Mont Helena. It is built on an Indian Mound, and you can literally see it for miles away across the flat Delta farmlands surrounding it.

The house is in the process of being lovingly restored by its owners.

To see Mont Helena from a different perspective (and some truly awe-inspiring photos of the Delta), please visit my friend Marty Kittrell's blog. Marty is a very gifted photographer from Vicksburg, and you will love his inspirational way with words and the way he captures God's glory in all of his photographs.

I love the Mississippi Delta. There is no other place quite like it. It truly has a beauty and mystique all its own.

What a magnificent old house! I can not believe a restoration group has not gotten hold of it. Wouldn't it be such fun to bring it back to its' former glory? Beautiful post, Janie.

Magnificent vistas and the beauty of that abandoned house is such that one wonders about its history. I loved the sunflowers too, and I find it so very interesting that they are still blooming while in our area they have gone to seed now.

That is a beautiful house Janie...hard to believe that no one lives in it!

I enjoyed your post, and the sunflowers in the post below!

Oh what I would love to do with that house! It's fabulous! Very surprising that someone has not bought it and restored and live in it. How unusual it is built on an Indian Mound. There are quite a few around this area, amd some have been excavated. I'm surprised they were able to build on it. Maybe it is not a burial mound. The ones around us are.

The other pics are fabulous, too. You are an artist with the camera.
