While on vacation in Blue Ridge, Georgia, last week, my parents and my husband and I went exploring and ended up in a pretty little mountain town called Hiawassee. We had lunch and visited the Hiawassee Antique Mall, which is the largest antique mall in Northeast Georgia. If you ever pass through Hiawassee, be sure to stop by. It's huge and has a little bit of everything, including some nice pieces of furniture. Our next stop was at the Christ the King Thrift Shop, which was recommended by the nice ladies at the antique mall, and was where I found this elegant little "boudoir" lamp. Although its shade was tattered and stained and the lamp was covered with a layer of dust, it was still love at first sight, especially when I saw the three elegant little porcelain flowers nestled among the gilt leaves at its base ... and just look at those beautiful old candle covers! The price tag was marked $50.00, but I asked if they could take less and the sweet lady told me they would take $37.50 for it. Needless to say, I couldn't pay for it fast enough! As I write this, it is at a lamp shop in Jackson, Mississippi, being rewired and cleaned, and I can't wait to share its "after" pictures next week. I'm not sure where I'm going to put it, but I know wherever it ends up, I will love it ... not only because it's a beautiful little lamp, but because it will always remind me of that day we spent with my parents exploring the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. |

What a pretty lamp. That's the kind of unique piece we all hope to find! I'm glad you did. :)
Thank you for sharing!!! We are moving to Georgia in a couple of days and I will make sure that we make a stop in Hiawassee....of course, I will need lots of new things for the new house :)
What a beauty! I know it will be perfect in your home.:)
Beautiful lamp, Janie! I enjoyed this and the previous post. What a wonderful place!!
I love coming upon those 'hidden treasures'. And, don't you always know them when you first lay eyes on them? When I spy something like that, I know I'd better buy it then, or I'll keep thinking about it and have to go all the way back and get it!! Enjoy! I can see why it caught your eye.
