I love wildflowers, and one of my all-time favorites is a beautiful little exotic-looking blue flower that has a very "un-beautiful," if not downright ugly, name ~~ Spiderwort. The name Spiderwort is presumed to come from the way the flowers hang like spiders from a web off the main stem, and "wort" is the Old English name for "plant."
During a drive down some country roads last week, I found a clump of Spiderworts growing in a ditch beside the road and stopped to capture them with my camera.
center resembles a spider's tangled web ...

Hi Friend! I didn't know those were called spiderworts. I've learned something today. Someone was just asking me the other day what they were called. :)
I love this little flower, but I never knew what it was called, I agree it's a beautiful flower with a very ugly name.
Love your little grasshopper treat.

I did not know what these are called. And, I have heard the name but did not know what plant it went with. We have lots of these around here. They used to sprout up everywhere in my yard before we moved. I always thought they were pretty and never hurried to remove them. Thanks for the education, and the beautiful pics!
Love the depth of the blue, and I also love the little friend you found in your lagniappe shot!
Hoping you had a lovely Mother's Day...
XO,
Sheila :-)
