Monday Musings

It is a warm and muggy 73 degrees here in Vicksburg, on this Monday morning, the 13th day of June.

It's going to be another hot day, with the temperature hovering near 100 (again), and I doubt I venture out much past our porch or courtyard today.

We have some little wrens that have built a nest in a birdhouse close to the porch, so I may try to capture them with my camera later today as they hustle back and forth with fat, juicy worms for their babies. I'm also looking forward to capturing the babies as they're learning to fly, if I can. Sometimes it seems as if baby birds learn to fly overnight ... and before you know it, they are chattering and ruffling their little feathers in that endearing way they have, as if to say to their mama and daddy, "Look, look! Here I am! I'm over here!"

And while I'm on the subject of babies — I'm going to be working on some "nursery projects" today, which I hope to share with you when we "get it all together." It is truly an eye-opening experience to make a list of everything you need for a new baby. There are so many new and wonderful products available these days to make the care and feeding of a newborn easier for his mama and daddy (and grandmama!). I want to share a few of those, too, as we mark them off our list.

I hope your day is a good one ... remember to "stop and smell the roses" every chance you have.

Hope you are OK there with all the flooding on the Olde Miss. Thanks for sharing. Richard at My Old Historic House.

Awwww. Caro and I were just sitting in Sweetpea's room with her, and musing that the big white "baby" bed would probably be in use twice in the coming while---both grandsons from Down South will visit sometime this Summer. One is much too young for a side-down bed, and the other is too nimble to be left on his own for a nap without the extra-tall deterrent. With the sides down, he beats his Mama out of the room, chortling all the way.

I'd love to hear all your plans and creating of the nursery.

I think I'm going to have to go out and smell the petunias or the sage blossoms, for the roses are just NOT QUITE THERE yet.

It IS 67 right now, so there's that.

Beautiful photos, Janie, and looking forward to you sharing of the nursery project.
I am truly trying to slow down and smell the roses. Sue
