Cool Pictures

I'm going to be away for a few days helping our daughter Whitney and her family with last-minute preparations in anticipation of the birth of our grandson. He is scheduled to arrive "no later than Wednesday," and I can't believe that we are finally going to meet our little miracle baby in person. I pray God will continue to bless and watch over him and Whitney, as he makes his journey into this world. I hope to post updates as I can.

In the meantime — in hopes of adding a little bit of "coolness" to these sultry Dog Days of summer, today I am sharing some of my pictures that I captured during cooler times. Like these icicles on our Bay Magnolia tree in January of this year ...

And these icicles clinging to a Japanese Yew in our courtyard ...

There's nothing like a frozen fountain to cool you off. I captured this fountain at Ravennaside in Natchez, on one of the coldest days of our Mississippi winter,2010:

It reminds me of a huge wedding cake made of ice!

This cardinal was probably wishing for warmer days, as he huddled at our feeder ...

The relentless summer heat is challenging my recently planted Zinnias.

It's hard to believe that just a few months ago, that same little "peace sign" was covered with snow ...

Here are a few more pictures that make me feel cooler ...

Raindrops on Iris Leaves

And on Yew branches ...

These pretty wildflowers growing along the edge of the Ocoee River in Georgia ...

And this shady path leading down to the Toccoa River near Blue Ridge, Georgia ...

I seriously doubt looking at these pictures made you feel any cooler, but I hope you enjoyed them anyway.
