You can feel it in the air.
The summer's heat is fading,
As Fall arrives with flair.
To every thing there is a season,
With good things about each one,
But Fall ... in all its glory,
Is hard to be outdone.
(First line by Bob Dylan, rest of poem is by me)
The times they are a-changin' ... those words are very appropriate for this time of year when Fall's coming arrival is reflected in everything around us. And there's something about the rite of passage from one season to another that inspires me with a feeling of "starting over with a clean slate," especially when it comes to decorating.
One of life's simplest pleasures for me is to decorate our home for each season, and this year I started with the Welsh Dresser in our breakfast area. I began by removing everything from the shelves ...
Then I made a trip to the attic and brought down all my "Fall decor" stuff, which included silk flowers and berries, stained gourds, and my "crock collection" ...
Here are the "after" pictures ...
I hope Fall is in the air where you live and you are enjoying decorating projects, too. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it!

I've loved that dresser ever since our RMS days, it's such a beautiful & classic piece of furniture. And of course, you have decorated it beautifully!
XO,
Judy
Lovely! :-)
So naughty of you to mention the Big "T" - first time I thought of it this year. ;-) xxx
One of my favorite pieces of furniture. I have none in my life at the moment, but wish I did. The jugs look so good with the fall decor. What a sweet dining room, I am ready for a slice of pumpkin pie. Richard from My Old Historic House.
Happy Friday Janie, You've made a beautiful arrangement on your dresser.. I remember the conversation we had about your watermelon picture.. I looks very appropriate there with your other beautiful things.. You've put me in the mood to get my Fall/Halloween things out and get busy decorating..
If only the rain would stop falling and the sun would come out.. Our weatherman said that we've seen the last of the 90 degree temps.. That's a good thing !
Your home is lovely and I always enjoy all of the pictures that you post.. Always, Charlotte
You are not only a great photographer, Janie, but a great decorator too, Beautiful!1 uI finished mine last week, just haven't posted yet. I do love this season, Thank you for sharing.

LOVE IT! I have started doing a little of my decorating, too...but then I get distracted amd find myself doing something else! Love what you did!
I was interested to read those lyrics. I have always heard the song, but have had a hard time understanding the words. It is surprising to me that Bob Dylan was that poetic...even though I have always heard how talented he is. I agree in musical composition, but just didn't realize it in song lyrics. Thanks for the lesson!
Hope all is well with the little ones and their parents.
Just beautiful! Your welsh dresser is one of my favorite pieces. :)
Your beautiful dresser, dressed for fall has inspired me to get busy! I love your crock collection.
