All Creatures Great and Small

A couple of days ago, I rode with my husband to his office down in Meadville, Mississippi, which is about 75 miles southeast of Vicksburg. On the way home, we stopped on the side of the highway beside a pasture where two beautiful little colts were enjoying the warm May sunshine ...

The horses were a long way from the highway, but, thanks to my zoom lens, I was pleased with the pictures I captured.

I don't know much about horses, but I believe these are Paint horses.

I'm not sure what kind these are, but aren't they beautiful!

Both babies were staying very close to their mamas, who were busily grazing ...

If you click on this picture to enlarge it, you will notice that the mama horse is keeping a close eye on me and my camera, even though she didn't stop grazing ...

These beautiful creatures were very nice lagniappe that afternoon. I hope you will join me next time when I show you around the little town of Meadville.

I want them to be paints and roans and sorrels and chestnuts and all those beautiful words from childhood books and the Saturday westerns.

Absolutely some of the most beautiful of all your photos. Ever.

I love pictures of horses in the fields, and even better if there is a baby colt frisking about as well. Lovely photos, as usual.

I don't know what they are either but I always love the sight of horses and their babies. Cows and their babies are sweet too.
