Cows Up Close and Personal ... "Outdoor Wednesday"

I enjoyed participating in "Outdoor Wednesday" for the first time last week, and looked forward to joining our gracious hostess Susan at A Southern Daydreamer again today.

I invite you to visit Susan's lovely blog to see more posts featuring the great outdoors.

A few of my blogging friends know that I love photography. Everywhere I go, I "see" photos in my mind before I ever capture them with my camera. One of my favorite subjects to photograph is COWS. You may think that strange, but they have the sweetest faces and a gentleness and innocence about them that I find fascinating.

As a result of my ramblings around the countryside surrounding Vicksburg, I have accumulated quite a collection of cow photos and would like to share them with you today.

{Note: I took most of these with a telephoto lens and there were fences between me and the cows!}

Here's my latest one ... isn't she beautiful!

This one was curious about me, but not enough to quit eating ...

This little guy was so sweet, and looked
like he had just gotten a bath ...

I was glad there was a fence between me and this one ...

This one reminds me of a sheep with all that curly hair ...

And speaking of sheep, this little
guy could almost pass as a lamb ...

Thank you, Susan, for inviting us to participate in "Outdoor Wednesday." It was fun sharing my cow photos and I'm looking forward to visiting the other participants.

Sincerely,

Cows ... "Out Standing in Their Field"

If you are a regular reader of Southern Lagniappe, you know I am fascinated by cows and love to photograph them. For the most part, they seem to be gentle creatures, and their faces are truly beautiful and have a look of innocence about them.

Anytime I see cows in a pasture close to the road, I just can't pass them by. I took these pictures Sunday afternoon just outside of Vicksburg. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them, if you'd like ...

This cute little guy was camera-shy and
ran from me when I walked up to the gate ...

I'm going rambling with my camera again this morning and look forward to discovering new and interesting things to photograph. You never know what you're going to find ... and, as with most things, the thrill of the hunt is half the fun.

Sincerely,

A Natchez Trace Photo Shoot ... "Cows"

I've been organizing some of the literally thousands of photos I have stored on my computer, and this is the first in a series of photographic posts I want to record on my blog so I'll have my pictures at my fingertips according to subjects or locations. I hope to use them to create a scrapbook someday.

This post features a collection of "Cow Pictures" I took on the Natchez Trace, between Clinton and Jackson, Mississippi, on November 8, 2008:
