A couple of months ago, I went to a yard sale and found this sweet little table ...
It was kind of banged up and its paint was peeling, but I loved it and asked the lady the price. I was delighted when she said, "$2.00?" -- with a question mark at the end like that might be too much! Of course, I was even more delighted then and paid her for it.
After I got it home and looked at it more closely, I decided that the paint was too "chippy" for the "distressed" look I wanted, so I decided to paint it a cream color and distress it myself. That called for sanding some of the paint off and I and my "little helper," Avery, went right to work ...
Well, to make a long story a little shorter, I sprayed the table a cream color, but didn't like the way it looked ... so, being the perfectionist I am ... I abandoned the project for a couple of weeks.
The other day when I was in Wal-Mart, I bought a can of flat black spray paint and figured if I didn't like the table painted black, I could just use it in the garage or somewhere. So, Saturday when we were staining our gourds (see my "Stained Gourds Project" post), I sprayed the table black and liked the results.
I had planned to put it all along ...

Hi Janie,
I have two little tables I'm planning to paint black. Your's looks great in your bath.
Your home proves that everything doesn't have to cost a fortune! Who would have believed the little table cost only $2.00 after looking at your beautiful bathroom.
And of course Avery Grace is adorable! I love the way you sneak her pics in on your posts! Only a grandmother! LOL

I love your new little black table, it's the perfect color :)
I need something like that..but I will never find it now that I am looking for it, lol.
Have a great day,
Bella
$2 dollars!!!!! Oh my word girl..was you wearing a Zorro mask and holding a gun on the woman!? What a steal and I love it painted black..it looks like a million bucks sitting in your bathroom..man you just inspire me to go out and find something to paint! lol Oh I adore that little Avery..she looks so much my our little Sofie and even has the same hair cut! lol I love how she looks so intense while she is working on her projects...of course she does have the best possible teacher! lol Have a great week girl...loved this post!
First let me say---how great is it to have those little helpers? My Ta-Ta loves to get her hands on Mimi's things and she also has those garden gloves that Avery is wearing!
Your table looks great. I thought I was the ONLY one that abandoned projects when they didn't turn out right the first time! Sometimes flat black paint is just perfect, and I use it instead of satin black. You got a great deal for $2.00 (the paint probably cost more than that)!

I may have to stop reading your blog. I tend to be jealous of your finds when I stop by... (and your house, and your travels!) We never have yard sales like that in our area. Your table looks great in it's little spot.

Your table turned out so cute and your little helper is so adorable. I think she looks like a future blogger! Your home is so beautiful!! I think it was one of the first I seen on RMS. I don't go on there much anymore but you have a kitchen that is UNFORGETTABLE!!
Perfect! I can't believe that was $2. I always look for little tables like that. You can just about use them anywhere.
I've got the bug to go thrifting, but we are in the midst of back to school mania. :( Maybe in a few weeks.
It looks wonderful Janie! It's as though it was made for your bathroom!
Oh! The table came out perfectly! Your bathroom looks so serene and what an adorable little helper you had! Now you've got me thinking about finding one for my bathroom. I scrolled down a bit through your other posts and saw your fabulous kitchen! I remember drooling over your home on RMS! Happy to find you have a blog too. Guarantee I will be back again! :) ~ Laurie
Great find...looks perfect in your bathroom! I found a $2.50 table last weekend at a yard sale that I am not sure what to do with yet, but for that price I couldn't pass it up.
Janie, you sure know how to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear...so to speak...with your extraordinary artistic talents. What you have done with this table and the gourds is very impressive. Your beautiful home should be featured in periodicals like Southern Living, Mississippi Magazine, etc. What I think is wonderful is how you are teaching your lovely granddaughter to do creative things and bonding with her at the same time.

UNREAL! TWO DOLLARS! And look how awesome it looks! And it looks like you planned it that way the whole time. I sure hope you gave your helper a treat for all her hard work!
I love it Janie and I love your bathroom. I have two very tiny bathrooms with absolutely no room for a table or anything else - well I do have a hamper in my husband's bathroom because if I didn't ....well let's just say he's not neat. My bathroom is wall to wall toilet/sink. literally. So I'm really envious of the room you have. Hmmmm wonder if I could knock out a wall. Just a thought. :) blessings, marlene
That is so precious! I love that you are involving her!!!!! That made me smile!!!
