A Back Roads Photo Shoot near Vicksburg, Mississippi

I took the back roads home from Jackson yesterday afternoon and an old barn on Mississippi Hwy. 22, was calling my name as I went past it. I had my camera with me, so I turned around and went back and got these shots of the barn and its owner's little cabin.

This little "lean-to" and these moss-covered trees across the road caught my eye, too ...

I also captured these photos of tree roots on the side of a road in Vicksburg, where the ground has sloughed off leaving the roots exposed. I love the moss, berries, and lichen growing on the side of the road bank ...

I hope you enjoyed seeing these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Sincerely,

That is the one thing I do love about the back roads of Louisiana and Mississippi. The old barns and the moss.

Janeie, these are wonderful! Great job! I love rustic buildings. They have a charm all their own. Scenes like this are becoming far and few between. Glad you captured it.

Janie, these pictures are amazing....that tree is just holding on to dear life with it's roots all exposed! Doesn't it just blow your mind how all living things strive to survive? You sound like me....I am always turning back around in my car to take a shot at an old barn or farm animal or sunset ...anything that catches my eye! I can't seem to just pass it up. Thank you for sharing these with us. ~Cheryl

Janie,

You captured my complete attention at the first picture of the Rustic barn. I am so glad you went back.
These are so amazing and I am feeling the south calling my name, just to venture along these back roads. What a treasure.
I barely made into Miss. on the way to the airport in Memphis a few years back.
During those trips, they were spent loving grandbabies and mostly staying in their apartment. The south is so lovely and I so enjoy your pictures!

Janie, those pics tug at my heart strings......looks like home. As you remember I grew up in MS and La.....I've seen things like that all my life, but never cease to be amazed at the beauty of the sites of back roads. I am another glad that you turned back to take the time to snap a few pics. You are really talented with the camera lens!!
