Blue Monday

I would like to thank Sally at Smiling Sally, our gracious "Blue Monday" hostess, for giving us an opportunity to share some of the blues around us.

When I was considering subjects for my post today, it occurred to me how many ways the word "blue" is used in our everyday lives -- especially in expressions and in the titles of songs. For example, I'm sure we've all said or thought these words when trying in vain to make a point to someone who's just not getting it:

And we all have special people in our lives who we think of as ...

And, at times, everyone suffers from ...

Have you ever had something happen that was totally unexpected, like ...

This time of year at hundreds of state fairs all over the country, people are winning these for their prize-winning quilts, food, crafts, and farm animals ...

And then there's the expression we sometimes use to
describe the rarity of an event, "once in a ..."

The term "blue-collar" is derived from 19th century uniform dress codes of industrial workplaces.

And, of course, during better economic
times, we've all heard of these ...

And I never fail to think of this lady when I hear the expression ...

I think she is truly beautiful.
