Amazing Grace ... How Sweet the Sound

A friend recently sent me a You Tube performance by a group of young men called Il Divo," which means "divine male performer" in Italian. And divine they are ... both in looks and in talent.

I had never heard of Il Divo until I saw this moving performance of them singing "Amazing Grace." If you have never had the pleasure of hearing them, I promise you will be moved, especially when the bagpipes begin playing!

Il Divo were initially brought together by pop impresario Simon Cowell in 2004, following an extensive worldwide audition process. The virtuoso blending of operatic technique with romantic and popular song took the world by storm, with sales of over 22 million.

If you'd like to learn more about these talented young men, you can visit them at their Il Divo web site.

Janie! They are wonderful, aren't they?! A good friend of mine sent me this link the other day, and I was just amazed. I'd heard them sing before, but this was awesome. Thanks for putting it up here where we can all enjoy it. :-)

Sheila

Hi Janie,
This is one of my favorite hymns. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful rendition.
The Colosseum made a beautiful backdrop for this performance didn't it?

Morning Janie! Yes, very moving; the best version I've heard. I have heard them before when Simon Cowell from American Idol first discovered/introduced them! They have such individual true voices. Glad you posted this one! Have a great day - Sincerely, Jeannette

There is no video here for me to click....but I remember them on American Idol teasing Simon about his group Il Divo! And I saw they had a new cd out when I was at Wal-Mart. I'll have to seek them on youtube!

Janie,

I hope it is okay I linked your 'Christmas Stars' to my post this evening about a poem/children's book I was reading to my little grandson.

Thanks! Beth

Janie,
"Moving" with a capital "M"....and "awesome" as the younger crowd likes to say (to the point of nausea sometimes I think). Thanks for posting this as I was totally ignorant of this group. (Where have I been?) You have given me a "Eureka Moment" and I thank you. I'm gonna ask Santa or somebody to stick their CD in my stocking! BTW, your candy jars are magnificent and a feast for the eyes (and mouth)!
