Cypress Trees and Knees

I took these pictures yesterday at a small lake behind my parents' house in West Monroe, Louisiana.

[You can click on the pictures to enlarge them, if you'd like]

Narcissus, also known as Paperwhite, is my favorite flower, and this sweet little plant was blooming beside the lake ...

This majestic rainbow provided a little lagniappe on our drive home to Vicksburg ...

"And God saw all that He had made ...
And behold, it was very good."

I always love pictures of North La. The cypress knee pics are fantastic. I have a Santa that is made from one. It's amazing how each has it's own personality. I noticed that my Mom's paperwhites were blooming today too. The seasons come and go sooooo quickly.

Hi Janie,
Your photos are great! Love the shot of the rainbow.

We had a mantle in our other home made of cypress that came from a home in LA-or so I was told! Those trees are incredible!

Have a great day,
Diane

Enlarging the pics really brings out the beauty. I have tried several times to cypress knees and trunks, but threw them away. Couldn't get them to come out like this.

There's just something about Louisana that speaks to me, always has, I can't explain it but I've always felt felt it each time we were passing thru over the years. I've always told myself I'd go back and explore one day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful state with us!

Absolutley gorgeous! I have never seen cypress growing in a lake before and was facinated by the colors. I enlarged the pictures for my husband who travels to LA on bussiness and he said they are interesting to see.
The rainbow and paper whites are beautiful and it is hard to imagine them just growing wild. I love your blog Janie, and enjoy learning from your beautiful offerings:)
Happy Sunday!

Janie, what a really, really lovely set of pictures, and last, but not least, that great shot of the rainbow as you returned to Vicksburg....where there is indeed, a pot of gold to be found...a/k/a as "home".
