Pictures Worth Thousands of Words ...

This awe-inspiring photo was taken by my friend, Marty Kittrell, of Vicksburg. Marty is one of those rare people who is blessed with the God-given talent of "seeing pictures" in his mind before he captures them with his camera.

Marty discovered my blog a few months ago when he came across a post I wrote about Vicksburg, and has been a source of inspiration and encouragement to me in my photographic endeavors ever since. I'm excited that Marty has recently become a member of the blogging community and has created a beautiful blog called, simply enough, Marty Kittrell. Marty introduces himself by saying:

"I see photos wherever I go. I frame them in my head in an instant. This is not a talent shared by all, I have figured out. I consider it a gift from God. And so I use it for His Glory ... by capturing the beauty of the Vicksburg area. I am just the messenger.... I regret that I have never had a lesson in photography, but that doesn't matter. To me, photography is the art of observation and not the application of technology." [I love that!]

Marty's pictures are a testament to his many God-given talents and do, indeed, capture God's Glory in its Highest. The word awesome is overused these days, but that is the only word that comes to mind that truly describes Marty's work. His pictures are, indeed, "worth thousands of words," and I hope you will visit Marty and treat yourself to a relaxing and inspiring tour of his photo gallery.

Here is just a preview of his work ...

AMazing work! As a photographer myself, it is always a treat to see someone else's work. I am a bit of a collector of photography sites, very inspirational and educational. For 2009- that is a great start-learn from others, no matter who they are.
That is what life is about.
I am off to check out marty's site.
Happy New Year!

Hi Janie! So soft and peaceful your new look! I didn't realize you had music on yours or I would have warned you personally too! Haven't been on computer; my husband outsmarted the virus but it is a nasty one to get rid of! I will be music-less needless to say!!! I will check out your friend, his pictures are outstanding what you've shown! Hope your new year is going well! Sincerely, Jeannette

Janie,
Glad you gave a "shout out" to Marty Kittrell who certainly deserves it. I have long had one of his sites listed on my sidebar of favorites. I am glad to see that Marty has joined the Blogger community. Creative and interesting people like you and Marty make me proud to call Vicksburg my hometown, and I appreciate that y'all share your special photo and writing talents via your online blogs and sites to showcase the beauty and positive aspects of the Vicksburg area. Keep on keeping on...and I thank you both very much.
