First Sweet Memory of the New Year

It seems that everywhere you look these days, you see PRINCESSES.

Princess MOVIES

Princess PHONES

Princess TEA SETS

Princess COSTUMES

Princess JEWELRY BOXES

Princess FLASHLIGHTS

And even Princess CAMERAS!

I thought I had seen it all, but the other day at Kroger's I spotted the ultimate in princess paraphernalia -- A Princess Cake Mix!

Of course, I couldn't resist buying one for the little princess in our family, our four-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter Avery Grace. Avery was so excited when she saw the cake mix, and we made it New Year's Day.

She was so cute icing the cake, and I ran and got my camera to capture this first "sweet memory" of the new year ...

This cake decorating is serious business!

I think there's more sugar on those sweet
little cheeks than there is in the icing!

The princess decals are edible ...

And the icing is yummy!

I think our cake turned out pretty and it was very good, too.

The icing is not included with the mix. I bought a can of Duncan Hines delicious "Creamy Home-Style Buttercream Frosting," and it worked perfectly for the sheet cake.

Avery loves to cook and I hope to have more "sweet" memories to share with you soon!

The teapot is sitting beneath the pretty cozy and the SNOW outside is 8 degrees---How about I bring the tea to YOUR house to go with some of that gorgeous, yummy cake?

It's the prettiest cake I've seen THIS YEAR!!

Sweet memories,

rachel

Our own little Chef is arranging a new set of plastic le Creuset on her "stove"---a white cardboard box, just her height, that her Ganner drew "stove circles" on top of. I hear the words Tea Party about every six seconds as she works.

How sweet! Let me just say that she is really growing up. She's getting more of a little girl look than baby look now.

Avery Grace is so adorable, and she is quite a princess too.
Isn't it fun to bake with our precious g-daughters. I had so much fun when ours visited at christmas. They are such a joy to watch, and they seem to enjoy it as much as we do. The cake is beautiful and what a great job you both did.
Praying much joy and many blessings this ear.

What a sweet memory! So glad you documented it! You can give her the pictures one day when she gets married...inside a cookbook!

I know you had fun doing that together! She's adorable!
