I enjoyed participating in "Outdoor Wednesday" for the first time last week, and looked forward to joining our gracious hostess Susan at A Southern Daydreamer again today.
I invite you to visit Susan's lovely blog to see more posts featuring the great outdoors.
A few of my blogging friends know that I love photography. Everywhere I go, I "see" photos in my mind before I ever capture them with my camera. One of my favorite subjects to photograph is COWS. You may think that strange, but they have the sweetest faces and a gentleness and innocence about them that I find fascinating.
As a result of my ramblings around the countryside surrounding Vicksburg, I have accumulated quite a collection of cow photos and would like to share them with you today.{Note: I took most of these with a telephoto lens and there were fences between me and the cows!}
This little guy was so sweet, and looked
like he had just gotten a bath ...
I was glad there was a fence between me and this one ...
This one reminds me of a sheep with all that curly hair ...
And speaking of sheep, this little
guy could almost pass as a lamb ...
Thank you, Susan, for inviting us to participate in "Outdoor Wednesday." It was fun sharing my cow photos and I'm looking forward to visiting the other participants.

Love your cow photos...they actually have cute faces!
Thanks for sharing
Susan
Janie, I love them ALL. I want to pet them, too. Cows are so sweet and basically gentle, as long as a bull isn't involved! ;-)
Loved seeing these...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Hello Janie; AWWWWWWWWWWW I love those photos. I love Cows my Aunt and Uncle have a farm not a working one any more, but when I was little they had cows and all kinds of farm animals. You did a great job on taking them, so so sweet they are.
Hugs;
Alaura
I love your photography!
The first on in the frame has a vague resemblance to her faraway cousin, the "shaggy Heeland Coo" whose picture I took when we were in Scotland.
They are soooo sweet!
I've loved them ever since City Slickers... :)
Wonderful photos you took!
Each cow seems to have an individual personality. What fantastic photos you took. I'm afraid if I had a farm all the animals would die of old age. LOL
Blessings, Lana
I never thought cows could be beautiful in pictures but you sure made them beautiful!...Christine

Your photos are stunning Janie, happy cows and Happy OW. your blog decorations are so beautiful. Kathy.
Your cows made me smile. Your photos were great, I never knew cows were so pretty. Thanks for sharing, Maryrose
Happy Outdoor Wednesday! Cows are so beautiful. Some have long eyelashes. They come in all different colors and sizes. I love the Wisconsin cows. They all are so friendly. They stand in a circle and swat all the bugs off each other. While the Long Horned steer stands out in the middle of no all by himself/herself. Both kinds are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing your portraits of cows. Well done.

Hi Janie,

Did you take a course in photography?
Blessings,
Sue
They look so serious. I love the frames you put them in. Great photos.
Along with being up to our ears in horses here on the farm, we also have Hereford cattle. Your photos are absolutely stunning, and really bring out the bovine character...these are amazing shots. I loved this post! :-)
Your photos are 'udderly' bovine!!
I love them!! Thanks for sharing.
You know I LOVE you cow pictures. You capture their gentle spirit. Have you ever tried to milk one by hand? I found some weren't as gentle! LOL
Each animal has such different personalities and you captured all of theirs.
Avery was so darling flying her Dora kite. Those are memory making events in a child's life.
Warmly,
♥♥♥
COWS!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ I love cows :-D
What charming photos! Happy Outdoor Wednesday!
Janie,
These cows are just precious (that seems to be an odd word for a cow!). Your photography skills are quite good!! Love the countryside feel to all the pictures!
Hope you had fun on Outdoor Wednesday, I'll come back to visit!! :-)
xoxo
Janie (that's me too! :-)
When I was a little girl my maternal grandmother owned a cow, which she had at her little farm in Pennsylvania. I loved to lead the cow around the pasture. I also loved to feed the chickens. Always have been a city girl with a country heart.
Janie, Loved seeing these great shots you took of cows. For unknown reasons I had a flashback to Borden's Dairy ads when I was a kid that ran with their mascots of a bull, a cow, and a calf. I remember the cow was named Daisy and the calf was called Elmer, but a mental fog swept over me and I cannot remember the name of the bull. Now why would that memory lapse over this trivia perplex me? Alas, my photographic memory is leaving me..wish it was as sharp as your wonderful photos!
