A Promise of Spring

This is the time of year, it seems, when most of us get "Spring Fever." We can't wait to get out in our yards and gardens and clean up all the leaves and plants turned brown by winter frost.

Even on the "bright-blue-sky-and-sunshiny-days" we are sometimes blessed with in January, we know in our hearts that it's too early. Winter's not over yet ... we still have February and March to feel its presence.

I recently came across this poem written by poet Albert Laighton, and it kind of puts things into perspective, I think:

Where man sees but withered leaves,
God sees sweet flowers growing.

~Albert Laighton

So, next time you look out your window at all those leaves in your flower beds, try to be patient ... it won't be long before we, too, can "see the sweet flowers growing."

A beautiful quote to go with your beautiful photographs. I'm trying to be patient for Spring. Today we are covered in a blanket of beautiful snow. :)

Lovely. I'll come back all day to soak up the beautiful blooms.

I've always been of the opinion that the Lord created all plants as flowers; it was just pesky people who decided some of them were weeds.

I don't know when I have ever longed for spring as much as I have this winter! So, thanks for the pics...it reminds me that it really will get here!

Thank you for this wonderful preview of spring!

I have been keeping an eye on buds of trees and especially lilacs. They are growing fatter by the day.

A wonderful weekend to you!

I have had spring fever lately, and am longing to be in my flower gardens again, but like you said. I need to be patient,as it will be here soon. Thank you for sharing these beautiful blooms. Loved the poem too.
