Wonderlands in Ice

Winter recently paid a visit to Vicksburg, glazing the landscape with a thin layer of ice. I ventured out with my camera and captured a few close up shots of some of the plants in our yard.

Lady Banks Rose on our back yard fence

Bay Magnolia Branches

Christmas Sasanqua blossoms completely encased in ice.

Cleyera Leaves

Holly Leaves

Japanese Yew

Japanese Maple Leaves

As I looked at the above pictures on my computer, I noticed that several of the icicles looked like they had tiny cut glass crystal designs inside them. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them, if you'd like to see them for yourself.

I decided to go back outside with my macro lens and see if I could get a closer look at the ice crystals — and I wasn't disappointed (I hope you will click on the pictures to enlarge them).

It was truly a morning filled with "How Great Thou Art" moments!

Waterford will never be able to create anything as exquisite as these miniature crystals my camera captured inside the icicles ... and I'm so glad I got a closer look.

a wonderland in a drop of water. Great shots. Oh now I wish I could have ventured out. Still crouping too bad and chest hurts when cold air hits my lungs. I go back to day for another shot and and praying he doesn't mention Hospital again. I guess I'm just stubborn but a person can sleep only so much, so I set at patio window and wait for a good shot.
Got several good ones...lol..but you can see just so much of God's wonders from behind a window pane.
Thanks for taking me outside.

And all that is going on out there RIGHT NOW, beejillions of times, in uncounted places, and we cannot imagine the glory and the perfection.

These closeups of the suspended drops---those could have graced a Russian Empress' ears, and she'd have been the envy of all royalty.

I'll return to these over and over, for the thrill of the beautiful and the enchantment of the impossibles.

Janie, I'm so glad you got these shots. They really are lovely, and you are right... Waterford couldn't do it any better. Only the Lord and your camera to catch it.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Simply stunning photos... thanks for taking the time to capture such rare beauty. There is a scripture, Job 38:22, that speaks of the "treasures of the snow". Thse pictures made me think of that, Of God's amazing creation of ice and snow...

Oh you are so right Janie, Waterford will not be able to create anything as beautiful as this.
Absolutely stunning, you can tell when someone enjoys something the are doing, they take the time to bring about as much perfection as possible,You have done this, and You do enjoy this! Thanks for always sharing such perfection.
You inspire me to try and do the same.

I'm glad you made those pics, too. So I could see them! When I saw the title of your post, I remembered those pics you took last year of the frozen fountain. But, these...amazing!

I love that you make so many of your subject. It truly is a blessing to just slowly go through them...I can not help but praise the Lord for making such beauty. I confess that I do not always take the time to notice the little things...and the beauty contained therein...but your work is so inspiring...it makes me want to slow down and drink it all in. Thank you!
