Dynamite Red

My husband and I visited my parents over the weekend at their home in northeast Louisiana. I took my cameras along, and couldn't resist capturing their glorious little red Crape Myrtle tree in full bloom ...

I believe it is called "Dynamite Red," which is very appropriate ...

I wish I had gotten more close up shots, but with the temperature hovering in the mid-nineties, and the heat index over 100, I didn't linger long in the sun.

The bright red blossoms against the blue sky were truly breathtaking ...

Dynamite is right!! I've never seen one this red before. Beautiful. Thank God for Crepe Myrtles blooming away in the middle of summer when all others have wilted away. :)
