A Tag about Books ...

My friend Diane at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words, recently tagged me to list "Seven Unimportant Book Facts about Myself." After thinking about it for a while, here's my list ...

(1) I'm guilty of judging a book by its cover. For instance, I recently read Ann Rivers Siddons' book, The House Next Door, mainly because the cover (on the left) appealed to me. If I had seen the older version of the cover on the right, I may not have picked it up ...

(2) I prefer hardback books to paperbacks.

(3) I'm addicted to listening to audio books while driving. I'm currently listening to Nelson DeMille's Gold Coast, and I'm enjoying it so much that I hate for it to end. But I have his newest book (the sequel to Gold Coast), The Gate House, to listen to next, so at least I have it to look forward to.

(4) I'm also eagerly awaiting Belva Plain's new novel, Crossroads, which is due out next week.

Unlike some best-selling authors, Ms. Plain doesn't publish new books every six months or so, which makes her books even more special.

(5) I love Vince Flynn's books, especially the ones with his picture on the back ...

What's not to like, huh ?

(6) I love reading to my three-year-old granddaughter Avery, especially sharing books with her that I read to my children when they were her age. I still have a lot of them and even have some that my grandmother read to me.

(7) Books are also great decorating tools.

In my opinion, nothing makes a home cozier or more welcoming than well-read books and magazines scattered throughout.

I appreciate Diane including me in this fun tag, and invite anyone who would like to participate to do so. I hope you will visit Diane at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words. I'm sure she will become one of your favorite blogging ladies, too.

Sincerely,

Hi Janie,
I'm going to have to check out Vince Flynn. Never heard of him!

I like hardbacks too...they just seem more substantial or something!

Thanks for playing along...I enjoyed your post!

Vince Flynn I will have to give him a whirl (wink wink) never heard of him.

My neighbor just gave me Playing for Pizza by John Grisham have you read ??

I have a ? for you I read a book a few years back and can NOT for the life of me remember the title or author (although I know it was a woman) and it's driving me nuts, any thoughts on where I could go to come up with the info. Let me say that I thought of the library but the book starts out a little bit crazy and I fear the reaction I may get lol !!!

Thanks for this post,
Kathy :)

Janie, this post is lovely. Look at your pictures of the books, people, and rooms. I could look at the pictures all day.

I love hardback books, too, and enjoy holding a book in my hands. My husband likes to read online, but I prefer to curl up with an actual book in bed.

I want to read something by Anne Rivers Siddons. I hate to admit I never have. On a side note, she's a DDD which gives me extra impetus to read her works, but now you have given me another good reason by your recommendation.

Love to you!

XO,

Sheila

Kathy, any time I can't remember something or want to find information about something, I "google" it. If you don't know the title or author, I suggest you "google" a keyword that describes the book. I'm always amazed at the things you can find on Google.

If you find the book, let me know. You've got me curious now! ... lol

I read Vince Flynn....I never noticed that he was such a hottie!! And I agree with you...books scattered around your home just makes it feel warm and lived in...which is a good thing because mine are scattered EVERYWHERE!

Janie, this is a great list!

I have to tell you, I love Anne Rivers Siddons. I have her new book on my nightstand, waiting for me to get around to reading it. I've read all the fiction she's ever written, except for the latest book. I have not read John Chancellor Always Make Me Cry..non-fiction. Having said all that...I must say...The House Next Door scared the living daylights out of me. I often re-read ARS'books, but that is one, I got through once and never picked it up again. There was a movie made, based on The House Next Door, with the same title. It was not nearly as frightening as the book.

Thanks Janie, I tried that, I don't want to tell you how much time I spent on it lol But I won't give up, who knows someday it may just come to me or I may see the cover someplace.

Thanks again :)

Kathy ;)
