Diane at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words is hosting "Trash to Treasure Tuesdays," which is a great idea. Be sure to visit Diane to see her clever transformations of trash to treasure. I shared a yard sale bargain story in a post back in August, and would like to repeat it for this Trash to Treasure Tuesday. I spotted this cute little table at a yard sale and, although it was kind of banged up and its paint was peeling, I loved it. I asked the lady the price and was delighted when she said, "$2.00?" -- with a question mark at the end like that might be too much! I hurriedly paid her for it and ran to my car with it before she could change her mind. After I got it home and looked at it more closely, I decided that the paint was too "chippy" for the "distressed" look I wanted, so I decided to paint it a cream color and distress it myself. That called for sanding some of the paint off and I and my "little helper," Avery, went right to work ... Well, to make a long story a little shorter, I sprayed the table a cream color, but didn't like the way it looked ... so I abandoned the project for a couple of weeks. Not long after that, I was in Wal-Mart and bought a can of flat black spray paint and figured if I didn't like the table painted black, I could just use it in the garage or somewhere. I sprayed it black and decided I really liked the way it turned out. Thank you, Diane, for hosting "Trash to Treasure Tuesdays" ... I look forward to seeing everyone's "new treasures." |

Table looks great and you surely did have a cute helper.
Love the table! Perfect for that spot! Can I borrow your helper she seems to have the sanding down pat! I deem her the trash to treasure Princess!
Wonderful Trash to Treasure transformation, Janie.
Your "little helper" is a cutie pie.
Hi Janie,
Thanks for playing along! The table looks great and looks like a nice addition to the bath. I love how you work pictures of Avery Grace into your posts! She is so adorable!
OK...so that's why my redo projects don't turn out so well...I don't have an Avery Grace!
Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. ;-) Bo
Look at that baby refinishing furniture! I won't see anything that cute for the rest of the day! And the project...gets an A+!!!!
This is a really neat challenge. I'm adding you to my sidebar :)
I'm Phyllis :)
Oh that is PERFECT....and your helper is a little doll!
Suzanne
Janie, I love that piece painted black. There was a time when I would have died if a piece of furniture was painted black. Now, I have black furniture as accents and I am loving it. We do change in the way we decorate over the years. Your table is a a real trash to treasure and looks perfect in your bathroom. A lovely bathroom too.
Hugs...Jeanne
Janie,
What a great trash to treasure find! I don't blame you for running to the car with it. And you did have the cutest helper ever! It looks lovely in your bathroom which I absolutely love. I like it painted black. Very classic.

That is one wonderful transformation! And it was a perfect fit for that space! Your bathroom is fabulous! ...and that is one precious helper you have there! :) ~Rhonda
I will have to post a picture of my daughter ( now 13). She looked so much like your precious grandaughter at that age. I had the same pixie cut when I was young and I passed it on to my Caroline. She wore her hair that way for so long that my friends started requesting the "Caroline Cut" for their daughters. Avery is a cutie and I love the table too!
The table looks great black, especially in such a bright space. I've been trying to add a little black to each of my rooms lately, and have enjoyed the way it sets things off and grounds a room.
Please stop by my blog and pick up a free copy of my new cookbook, "Finish The Feast: Leftover Turkey They'll Love To Eat!" It's filled with yummy recipes and is suitable for printing and giving as a gift.
Hugs,
Victoria
