Today I'm sharing a whimsical Christmas centerpiece that is sure to light up little ones' eyes. It's an arrangement of old glass jars I have collected through the years, filled with candy canes, gumdrops, Hershey Kisses, hard candies, and Jelly Beans. It sits on our breakfast table, and is one of our granddaughter Avery's favorite decorations ... not to mention a temptation for several grown-ups I know and love. |

Beautiful! And if I sat down there, I'm sure I would nibble a bite or two :)
A delightful centerpiece. It reminds me of the candies we had at Christmas time during our growing up days.
Such sweet memories, Janie!
Times gone by, with the excitement of tip-toe peeking into the candy-case at Aunt Lou's store, and the scent of all those delights when I was allowed "behind the counter" to slide open that Aladdin's door to those treasures! The aromas of licorice and vanilla and lemon and chocolate and even root-beer, all mingled in the breath of that moment---like yesterday, and forever.
I can just feel those chewy, fruity gumdrops, and the sugary snap of the Brach's between my eager little teeth.
The only one missing is the ribbon candy---never in the case, but "ordered special" from Sears every year by Aunt Lo, and just the most beautiful jewelly folds---so magical and bright.
I WISH YOU AND ALL YOURS ALL THE SWEET BLESSINGS OF THE SEASON,
rachel
So cute, Janie! I know one grownup right here who would not be able to resist the tempatation of Hershey's Kisses!
XO,
Sheila
