Another Trash to Treasure Story ...

I love old prints and lithographs, especially in frames without glass, and this one caught my eye in a "junk shop" next door to our cleaners.

It had water spots and scratches and was covered with grime, but I love the picture and the frame was in good condition, so I asked the shop owner if he would take $5.00 for it. He said he would today, and I started to ask him if he'd take $2.00 for it tomorrow, but I didn't.

I gave him my $5.00, and brought it home, cleaned it, then wiped the print and the frame with Old English Scratch Cover for Dark Wood. I'm pleased with the way it turned out and here it is in its new home (one of our guest bedrooms) ...

Hi Janie,
Your picture looks so pretty hung in it's new home! You got a bargain on that piece for sure!

I can't help but notice a couple of things in your pictures...the bed post looks just like our bedpost! Wonder if they are the same?

And, the black rocker...I'm thinking of painting the porch rockers black (they are white now)The porch has white vinyl siding, but the shutters are white. Can't decide!

Hope you have a wonderful day,
Diane

Morning Janie! Wow what a steal. The frame alone is worth more than $5. It cleaned up very nicely and looks like it was meant for that spot. I love old landscapes; my taste is all over the place. Pretty colors in this one too. Well I need to go finish my dining room so I can post it (too many projects going on at once)! As I mentioned before your peaches picture gave me the craving and I finally got some just in time because the ones I bought were just about to go to overripe! They had bushels and bushels and I thought what a shame they would be wasted! I'm glad your pic reminded me or I would have missed out! Have a great day. Sincerely, Jeannette

I love it! I would have never thought to wipe the picture with the scratch ocver too. It gives it such a nice antique looking quality. Good job.

That picture is just perfect in that space above the nightstand and what an incredible deal. Lucky you!

What a great find! Love the colors. The scale is perfect- did you plan that?I haven't been able to visit my usual thrift and antique shops this summer- I dare not go with my four-year-old in tow. I know I'm supposed to savor every moment of childhood, but I confess that I am looking forward to the start of the school year so that I can visit a few antique stores again.

That is a beautiful print, looks lovely in the guest room. I just love finding a new treasure.

I'm petite, also...5'1" my mom is 4'10". I do have trouble finding clothes that fit like they should, but I also get to wear perky young stuff, that makes me get my bounce back!

Janie,
I love reading your blog entries and I'm so glad we have this way of keeping up with each other again. You really have a way with arrangements and lighting. The guest room looks so inviting and comfy and that print looks perfect where it is.

I love the pictures of your flowers!
