A Friday Morning "Before and After" Project ...

This rusty rooster weather vane has been sitting on that pedestal in my back flowerbed for months, and the more I looked at it, the less I liked the pedestal. The natural finish of the stone was just too light for the rustic rooster.

Well, today is the day I decided to "fix it," so I got out my Minwax "Mahogany" Stain, a pair of disposable gloves, and a roll of paper towels and went to work right there in the flower bed.

After dabbing ... and rubbing ... and dabbing some more, this is what it looks like now ...

I like the "after" look so much better, and it's a good thing, because there's no way I can get that stain off !

Best wishes to you for a happy and cool weekend!

Sincerely,

Janie, this is a fabulous makeover! I love what you've done here.

Enjoyed your previous post, as well. Spending time with our granddaughters is priceless. Missing my oldest, this summer. Will be happy to see her when she returns from photography school next month!

And the ruins of Windsor, o my goodness. I would love to see that in person!

Have a great weekend!

That really looks a lot better. I just did the same thing to my lamps. I posted it on my blog.

LOVE the way the pedestal turned out. And your "cooking with grandkids" post touched my heart, I know exactly how it feels to love them soooo much and to feel like it is a great gift to be able to spend time with them and watch them grow up.ksarra

Hi Janie! All I have to say is "Perfect"! Looks like it was always meant to be that way! I still need to try that little trick of yours with the stain! Looks really pretty in your garden setting! Thank you for your words of support on my accident post! It means a lot and you are right, she could have hurt someone badly! I've been thinking of her all afternoon and my aging parents too but I am going to get busy and let it go (something I have trouble with) but I do appreciate your support! I need to catch up on reading the rest of your posts! Have a great weekend. Sincerely, Jeannette

The pedestal is just beautiful...I may have to try that color on one I'm hoping to use in the kitchen soon.

Janie, you came to my posting on RMS and invited me to visit your blog. I am SO glad that you invited me. I would have a lot of cathing up to do, but I have read several and viewed videos and pix on several, and I have had a lovely time visiting your blog. I attended 1 yr. of college at the "W" (at that time, MSCW), so I met girls from all these interesting places you've talked about. It was such fun to see and hear about those places. And your granddaugther is absolutely precious. Again, thank you for the invite, and I will certainly be back. Laurie (Bargainhunner)
