Who Plants a Seed ...

Before I continue with this story, I need to go back in time to a September day in 2010. That was the day I discovered "Balloon Vines." If you would like to read the posts about the vines before you read this follow up story, you can click on the following links:

Balloon Vines
Heart Seeds

These are the balloon vines I captured with my camera last Fall ...

After returning home that day, I researched the vines and discovered their name and also found that their seeds are called "heart seeds," because of the unusual markings on them. When I read that, I knew there was another chapter to add to my story.

I returned to the patch of vines and gathered a few of the pods so I could see their little "hearts" for myself, and I wasn't disappointed. This is a picture of what I found inside the pods:

Now, let's fast forward to January 2011.

That picture was taken January 10, 2011, and the little girl is our six-year-old granddaughter Avery Grace. She was planting the heart seeds at our land in Madison County, Mississippi.

These are the seeds she planted ...

And here is a picture I captured yesterday of our very own little Balloon Vine!

I was absolutely thrilled, and seeing those tiny little pods actually brought tears to my eyes.

I e-mailed these pictures to Avery's mommy last night (after Avery's bedtime), and I can't wait to talk to Avery today and tell her about her vine.

Me thinks you have given birth to a gardener in your granddaughter, Janie, and those are cool plants!

This plant is so neat!!! I need to try growing some of those. Enen the seeds are neat and unusual! I cross-stitched that verse and a picture and framed it for a gift for a special country lady.

I love these plants. I was just given some egg guards from a fellow blogger, looks just like an egg. I am excited to plant them next year. Thanks as always. Richard from My Old Historic House.

What a wonderful way to make a memory with your granddaughter.
I am so glad our dry summer didn't keep the balloon vine from growing.

Thank you for sharing about this balloon vine. Thank you for sharing your feelings when you found the 'reproduction' of the seeds. Who planted the seeds? A little girl! Who made the seeds grow and bloosom? Our big God!! It is just awesome to see how life goes on all over the world. Thank you Janie.
