A Grandmother's Prayer

Today is her first day of kindergarten, God.

She's five years old ... so little and innocent ... her sweet face lighting up with excitement and eagerness when you mention "school" to her.

Please let her teacher be kind and loving and patient, God. Let her teach her little ones more than just their ABCs and "numbers." Let her create a bright and cheerful classroom for them, and encourage their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Let her remind them of The Golden Rule, as they learn to interact with each other, and teach them kindness and compassion and the social graces that will enrich not only their school days, but their every day lives, too.

I will be there with her in spirit today, and so many things run through my mind -- will she be scared, or shy? Will she be hungry, or thirsty, or tired? Will she be happy and make new friends easily? So many changes in her little world.

Please hold her close and watch over her for me, God ... today and always. Amen.

Janie,

Your prayer is beautiful and felt in each of our hearts as we send these little ones off into the big world.
Avery Grace is so adorable as is her sweet grandmama.
We actualy have our 3 11 year old grand babies starting middle school this year which makes my heart do a huge lurch. Prayer and faith goes with each of these babies. Thanks for posting this prayer for each of us:)~♥

How beautiful! That's what we can do, isn't it? Pray...so many things we can not change or do anything about. We can't be there and fight the bullies, and pave the way for them. But, we can pray...and pray...and pray! And, after all, that;s the BEST thing we can do!

She is precious. And, she will be fine...just fine.

Saying a little prayer for her and her teacher too. :) I feel like we've watched little Avery grow up!

You remind me to pray for my students who will come through the door next Thursday. I've just come home from working in my classroom. :)
